ARDEX SX Silicone Sealant

ARDEX SX Uses

ARDEX SX silicone sealant is suitable for residential and commercial projects and is especially useful for filling joints in moisture-prone zones or areas with variable temperatures. The neutral-cure formulation bonds readily and is safe to use on sensitive tile and stone installations. Since it is 100% silicone, the product remains flexible.

Dispensing and Application Instructions

ARDEX silicone sealant comes premixed and packaged in 10.1 fl. oz net-weight tubes that fit standard-size caulking guns.

To apply ARDEX SX:

• Thoroughly clean the tile joints of dust and debris.
• Apply masking tape to both sides of the joint to facilitate easier cleanup.
• Snip off the nozzle to achieve the desired bead size.
• Using a caulking gun, force the sealant into the joint. 
• Tool the sealant if required to achieve the desired look. 
• Clean excess material using a solvent such as mineral spirits or isopropyl alcohol.

Technical Considerations

ARDEX SX is a sealant intended for professional use only and is suitable for use when material and surface temperatures are between 50° and 85° Fahrenheit. Since ARDEX SX cannot be painted, it is available in 36 colors to match the ARDEX grout line. 

ARDEX sealant cures fully within 48 hours. It should not be exposed to full traffic or submerged in water prematurely. The rapid cure formula readily forms a surface skin after application and requires the full curing time to achieve durable results. 

Safety Precautions and Storage

Installers must take precautions to avoid contact with skin and eyes when working with ARDEX silicone sealant. Always wear gloves and eye protection, and wash exposed skin thoroughly after handling.

Unopened tubes of ARDEX sealant can be stored for up to 18 months in a cool, dry area.
